Q. When is the best time of year to fish/visit Costa Rica?
Fishing in Costa Rica is great year round, many believe it has a lot to do with the different phases of the moon. As far as the weather is concerned, Costa Rica has two seasons. High Season also known as the "dry season" begins toward the end of November and runs through early May. The Green Season fluctuates annually, however it tends to begin in late May and runs through November.

Q. What is the closest airport to Los Sueños?
We recommend flying into Juan Santa Maria International Airport (Airport Code: SJO) which is located in the capitol city of San Jose.

Q. How far is Los Sueños from Juan Santa Maria International Airport (SJO)?
Los Sueños is a 90-minute scenic drive from the San Jose Airport. We recommend taking a private airport transfer, for your convenience we are happy to assist with making these arrangements.

Q. Where is Los Sueños Resort and Marina Located?
Los Sueños is located in Playa Herradura, on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, approx. five miles north of the popular beach town of Jaco.

Q. Is it necessary to rent a car?
Due to the unknown roads, road conditions and the fact that drivers may be a bit more aggressive than you are used to we recommend a private transfer to and from the San Jose Airport. Once you arrive at your final destination either Los Sueños or Jaco we would be happy to assist if you would like to rent a car.

Q. If I opt not to rent a car how will I get around?
Almost everything in Los Sueños is within walking distance. You may decide to rent a golf cart to enjoy all the amenities within Los Sueños, which we will be glad to arrange for your convenience. Taxi's are available 24hrs to take you into the nearby town of Jaco for the day to do some shopping or in the evenings for dinner.

Q. Is Los Sueños a good place to bring children?
Absolutely, Los Sueños is a family oriented resort community. Nearby you may find numerous attractions and activities for the entire family to enjoy. Including: Sport Fishing, ATV Tours, Canopy Tours, Waterfalls, Hiking, Surfing, Wave-runners, Scuba Diving, Day Cruises, Tortuga Island and much much more! Our friendly staff would be happy to assist you with arranging activities during your stay.

Q. Do I need to leave Los Sueños for any reason? No, Los Sueños Resort is a full service premier destination resort offering various wonderful restaurants and bars as well as a gourmet import store. In addition is the full service Marriott where all guests are welcomed to enjoy their many restaurants, bars, spa services and the Stellaris Casino.

Q. What if there is a medical emergency?
The Los Sueños CARE Clinic is located within the gates of the resort. Bilingual medical personnel are on call 24 hrs per day. The clinic is equipped with state of the art emergency stabilization equipment. In severe cases, the clinic will arrange for emergency medical transfer services via ambulance or helicopter to the renowned CIMA Hospital in San Jose, which is affiliated with Baylor Medical University of Texas. Also for non-emergencies, local pharmacies are available within driving distance and staffed with bilingual pharmacists.

Q. Is Los Sueños a safe place? Can we leave the gates of the property?
Los Sueños Resort is a very safe community. All gates are guarded 24 hrs a day by security guards and video surveillance for your safety. Costa Rica is considered one of the safest countries in Central America. Although Costa Rica is safe it is still stricken with poverty therefore as precaution we recommend you not wear flashy expensive jewelry when traveling outside the resort.

Q. What should I pack?
On the days of your fishing charters, you need to bring sun block, sunglasses, a hat and camera. As far as attire, Los Sueños is a very casual resort community. Shorts are widely accepted most everywhere. There maybe only a couple of restaurants that require a dress code, the Nuevo Latino located in the Los Sueños Marriott and the nearby Villa Caletas.
However, please keep in mind that a collared golf shirt is required on La Iguana Golf Course designed by Ted Robinson.

Q. Is it necessary to speak Spanish?
While Spanish is the official language of Costa Rica, English is widely spoken throughout the popular tourist areas. Los Sueños is a fully bilingual resort community.

Q. Is it necessary to exchange money prior to arriving to Costa Rica?
The official currency of Costa Rica is the Colones, however US dollars are widely accepted. Visa, MasterCard and Amex are also widely accepted throughout Costa Rica.

Q. Is the water safe to drink?
Yes, the water in Los Sueños is first purified through a water filtration system before distributed throughout the resort community. Although the Costa Rican water supply is considered safe for both drinking and cooking, if you venture out of the resort we do recommend you ordering bottled water.
